The Minutes of the General Meeting of West Coast Association held on 27/4/25 at the Residence of Mr Lawrence Onah of Molenstraat 4 BOOM.
The Chairman Mr Anthony Amachukwu thanked the members for coming to the day’s meeting and equally thanked the Ona’s for welcoming us in their home, he called on Pastor Chidi Ezeagu to lead us in the opening prayers at 5:00pm.
Absenteeism: Mr Vitus Ononiba travelled to Nigeria, Johnny Olivier is working, Shegun Okunomo and Godrich Alethor are working while Charles Iyama travelled to France and Rowland Kingon was not heard from.
In the previous minutes Pastor Chidi Ezeagu said he noticed a mistake in the balance of the day’s finance and he corrected it accordingly .
In the Absence of further corrections and amendments the motion of adoption of the previous minutes was moved by Mr Lawrence Onah and supported by Mr Lucas Onuoha.
The Chairman Mr Anthony Amachukwu apologised in lateness to present the Accounts and told the financial secretary Pastor Chidi Ezeagu to share the Account to members which he did. On that Mr Patrick Oyebamiji said that the Account is being delayed and Pastor Chidi Ezeagu apologised for the Account coming late and after some deliberations we ruled that henceforth the yearly Accounts will be posted on our website.
Two men that are friends to Mr Ona entered the meeting as observers, they were welcomed and told they are not allowed to contribute during the meeting until after the meeting.
Mother’s day celebration: The Vice Chairman Mr Ike Owoh said the committee had some meetings and that the issues of the caterer and music is already settled, he further said that an idea came to their minds that the hall needs to be beautified and the General house must give approval before they proceed. These are the hall decoration rates. 40 chairs / tables: 100 euros for hiring of the decoration materials.
A member’s daughter said she will collect the sum of 170 euros for the decorations. We unanimously agreed to use our Members daughter’s company for the decorations. The committee members also said that the cleaning of the hall after the event has been taken care of.
Year 2025 family Barbue que: The Vice Chairman Mr Ike Owoh said that by the month of June we need to pay up our levies for the event and that we will use last year’s modalities for this year because there was no complains at all after the event, he also talked about freewill donations that, if what we generate are more than last year’s we can reduce intake from our Account. Mr Patrick Ezebuiro appealed to members to remain as we did our freewill donations previous year or add something to what we did. On the issue of spring castle Mr Onuoha said that our children are all grown ups and bigger than playing in spring castles and the house told the committee to look into it. The meeting also asked Mr Onah about hamburger bread he promised and he Mr Onah told the committee to contact him later for more clarifications.
Visiting a bearved member: On that Mr Godfrey Oghuma said that if one loses somebody, that it is good to along with something when paying condolences. Mr Patrick Ezebuiro supported his views by saying it is a good thing to do and further said that if it is a parent’s death we can as well go with the burial rites. Mr Anthony Obi wants us to deferentiate it very well to understand where we are heading to. Mr Kingsley Ihedinobi suggests a bottle of wine should be accompanied with on such visits. We however deffered the matter to subsequent meetings.
Payment of dues: The Chairman Mr Anthony Amachukwu talked about modalities we can contribute in paying our dues in forestalling mistakes and Mr Anthony Obi suggests we be paying our monthly dues two times( installments) in a year while Mr Patrick Oyebamiji wants us to be paying via our bank Apps.
We ruled to be paying twice in a year, the halve of the sum of 110 euros. We are expected to pay first quarter January till March the sum of 60 euros. June till November the sum of 50 euros and this takes effect from January 2026.
A letter of Resignation was received from our treasurer Mr Patrick Garain citing his health condition as the major reason of his Resigning from the Association and he further said that he really loves West Coast Association and hope that our paths may cross again in the future. Shortly after the reading of the letter Mr Valentine Udeaja wants the house to invite him and his wife to our forthcoming mother’s day celebration and the house agreed to invite them and the Chairman was told to relay the decision to him.
The Vice Chairman Mr Ike Owoh wants the house to approve the deposit sum of money to be given to the caterer and it was approved.
General: Pastor Chidi Ezeagu talked about Rowland Kingon and asked if he is coming back to start afresh or what?
Mr Godfrey Oghuma said we pay for website every year and we take pictures and upload in website and asked who is watching those photos.
One of the observers stood and greeted us that his name is Mr Jones that he is very happy to be in our midst, that the time Mr Onah joined West Coast Association would have been the time he also may have joined and he lives in Kempen and he came with his friend Mr Ogbuefi Ajufor who also lives in Kempen and further said it is a great honour to be here that he hears a lot about West Coast Association for a long time and that it is an opportunity to meet other friends and he likes what we are doing by fostering peace in diversity and said he will continue to watch us from afar and requested for a copy of our constitution.
The Chairman Mr Anthony Amachukwu thanked them for coming and also for the nice comments and to join the Association that we have rules and regulations but believes that “birds of same feather flocks together ” and they are entitled to observe one or two more times and when they are ready, they go through screening committee and concerning the constitution he said it is inappropriate to give out our constitution to a non member but that Mr Onah can relate to them concerning our do’s and don’ts.
Finance: The total sum of 790 euros was realised in the day’s meeting and it was as follows. 200 euros paid via bank. 590 euros cash received.
Expenses:110 euros for Hall payment. 50 euros for host wife. 90 euros for printing of accounts. 250 euros is the total expenditures.
The balance sum of 340 euros was handed over to the Chairman Mr Anthony Amachukwu.
In the Absence of further topics for discussion the motion of adjournment of the day’s meeting was moved by Mr Onuoha and seconded by Mr Sekani and the closing prayers was said by Pastor Chidi Ezeagu at 19 :37pm. Refreshments were served.
Vote of thanks was performed by the Vice Chairman Mr Ike Owoh who thanked the madam of the house for the food consumptions that the observers were asking if the foods are for 100 people and he told them that is how we do our things and thanked her once again for her hospitality.
In her response she said anytime she hears West Coast Association she feels at home and appreciates the gifts, she further said the gift her husband won in the last family BBQ she said to herself that it will be opened for the first time the day she will be hosting West Coast members and that the plate was used in serving Akara and we applauded and appreciated her for statements. Mr Kingsley Ihedinobi told her to continue with her good deeds.
