The Minutes of the General Meeting of West Coast Association held on 29/3/25 at the Residence of Mr Johnny Olivier of Legeweg 82, 8200 Brugge.

Before the commencement of the meeting the Chairman Mr Anthony Amachukwu welcomed us to the meeting and thanked Mr Johnny Olivier for hosting us and called on Pastor Chidi Ezeagu to lead us in the opening prayers at 16:47pm.

Absenteeism: Report was given by the Chairman Mr Amachukwu that Mr Shegun Okunomo would be absent in the day’s meeting because he has a server waist pain.

On that the motion of adoption of the previous minutes was moved by Mr Kingsley Ihedinobi and supported by Mr Godfrey Oghuma.

The Chairman Mr Anthony Amachukwu said that last meeting we had an observer and today he is here with us and further said the observer met all the requirements and wants him to go and register his names with the financial secretary which he did.
We had some inputs on how we welcome new members anchored by the Chairman Emeritus Mr Kingsley Ihedinobi and some members also gave words of advice to Mr Okechukwu Charles Inyama and he was welcomed and applauded.

Mr Anthony Obi was called upon to perform a minute of silence in honour of Mr Tony Lippens’s late brother and also Joseph Imoke’s Uncle/ brother.

Mothering Sunday: The Vice Chairman Mr Ik Owoh said everything is going on very well that the caterer requested for the kitchen that very day to enable her cook the fried rice because she needs the rice fresh., he further urged members to start paying up their levies to enhance their duties.

Year 2025 family BBQ: The date is 23rd of August 2025 and we also talked about paying our levies towards the event.

Gifts for our married children: On that Mr Godfrey Oghuma wants every member to get the children’s marriage benefits and according to him not everyone will get married because some will be living together.
Mr Anthony Obi supported him that we have to differentiate it very well because these days someone gets into the marriage, the next minute they are out.
Mr Lawrence Onah suggests we honour the invitations of those that are married.
Mr Charles Okechukwu Iyama talked about those living together and yet not married.
Mr Lucas Onuoha said that once the invitations are accompanied with a bottle of Jack Daniels we can contribute money and give to the child.
The matter was deffered to subsequent meetings after many deliberations.

Merit Awards; Mr Lucas Onuoha said it is better for the meeting to recognise Messrs Kingsley Ihedinobi and Anthony Obi for their efforts towards the meeting.
Mr Valentine Udeaja collaborated Mr Onuoha’s views that the duo did tremendous well in making sure the meeting was stable but also added that we look inwards and spread our tentacles and include those members that helped to steer the ship.

Mr Kingsley Ihedinobi was not particularly happy how Mr Onuoha mentioned the two names that he should have allowed the house to decide on whomever they want and sujests we leave the matter during our 20th year Anniversary.
Mr Ezebuiro supported Mr Kingsley Ihedinobi’s views and we ruled to have a Merit Awards ceremony in 2 years time.

The Chairman Mr Anthony Amachukwu stood up and said West Coast Association are in harmony and that keeps us together, he further said that what happened in the last meeting between Lucas Onuoha and Pastor Ezeagu is not good and should not be swept under the carpet and that we should always comport ourselves by not raising our voices against one another no matter the circumstances and level of provocations and wants this to be the last time such a thing will happen again.

Mr Anthony Obi asked the whereabouts of Mr Rowland Kingon that he brought a big pack of drink for the Association in the last meeting, on that Mr Valentine Udeaja read out the whatapp message Mr Rowland Kingon sent to him few hours before the day’s meeting that his wife was hospitalised in Uz Antwerpen and the house accepted the excuses.

The Chairman Mr Amachukwu said that Mr Patrick Garain sent a letter to the Association but he forgot it at home and promised to bring along next meeting.

General: Mr Godfrey Oghuma talked about the drinks he used for condolence visits to Daniel Figah’s father and that of Mr Sekani Mbewe,Lippens and Imoke are yet to come.
He also talked about our Bye-Laws.

Mr Imoke thanked the Association for the texts he received during the death of his uncle.

Mr Ononiba thanked the Association for our patience during his absence and regretted the meetings he missed and apologised.

Pastor Ezeagu said the problem he had with Mr Onuoha was because of the comment he made and said such thing should stop.

The Vice Chairman Mr Ike Owoh sujests we find a way to pay our bills.

Finance: The total sum of 1560 euros was realised in the day’s meeting and it was as follows;
Mother’s day: 1100 euros
Bbq:200 euros.
Monthly dues:160.
Registration Mr Inyama; 100 euros.

Expenses: 350 euros.
Mr Ike Owoh’s burial rites:300 euros.
Host wife:50 euros
Balance handed over to the acting treasurer Mr Godrich Alethor.

In the Absence of further topics for discussion motion of adjournment of the day’s meeting was moved by Mr Lucas Onuoha and supported by Mr Patrick Oyebamiji and closing prayers was said by Pastor Chidi Ezeagu at 19:28 pm.
Refreshments were served.

Vote of thanks was performed by the Vice Chairman Mr Ike Owoh who thanked the madam of the house and his humble and noble husband and said that Mr Johnny Olivier has shown us love and she madam has also shown us love with the delicious foods and drinks and that we are happy.

In her response she appreciates everyone that came to their house saying that 2 years ago we were here and prayed that in 2 years coming we shall be here again and wished us safe journey back home.
